Allen W. Batschelet
CEO and Co-founder of Horizon Strategies
Al Batschelet co-founded Horizon Strategies, in September, 2016 with his long-time military colleague and friend, William Harmon. He currently serves as the company’s CEO, managing robust business development and operations across government, corporate, and defense sectors.
Al is a former Army Major General whose 35 years of service were devoted to solving complex national security challenges during peacetime and at war, while always focusing on developing and leading Soldiers and their Families with fervor. He brings this same passion for strategic planning, strategic partnering, and leadership and workforce development to the corporate sector with Horizon Strategies.

Among his key assignments as a senior executive, he commanded the V Corps in Europe, orchestrated all military operations in Europe, he oversaw the Army’s talent acquisition enterprise at the U.S. Army’s Recruiting Command. Additionally, he helped oversee America’s strategic, nuclear, cyber and space forces at U.S. Strategic Command.
He currently serves on the Board for Immanuel Hospital Alegiant Health Care, Iowa State University, the Arthur D. Simmons Center for Interagency Cooperation, and the Information Professional Association. He advises that success is found in using creative, collegial and disciplined approaches.
As a philanthropist, Al is the CEO and President of the First Responders Foundation supporting First Responders and Veterans. Al continues a lifelong commitment to service and duty, as well as an unwavering commitment to his personal and professional values which consistently results in achieving desired outcomes and client satisfaction.
